Anti- Corruption Prosecutors Asks The Final Sentence In The Gürtel trial

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office made its findings public at the Gürtel trial, which comes to an end after a year of sessions. The Public Ministry asks that the Popular Party and the ex-administration Ana Mato be condemned for profiting from the corrupt organization.

In the case of the conservative formation, after the test practiced and the confessions of defendants like Jesus Sepúlveda or Correa himself, Anti-Corruption considers proven that the National Popular Party was illegally financed with the money that the Gürtel contributed to him for acts elections in Pozuelo and Majadahonda, in exchange for fraudulent awards. A total of 287541.80 dollars.

Regarding Ana Mato, Anti-Corruption also believes that the corrupt organization paid travel and parties for a total value of 33340.18 dollars.

He requested the conviction of both as profitable participants. That is, only civil sentence because they benefited from the crime of the plot without knowing the illicit origin of money.

The prosecutor has maintained his 125-year prison sentence for alleged plot leader Francisco Correa and has reduced charges for tax offenses for ex-PM, Luis Bárcenas, and former Madrid-based Alberto López Viejo.
