General Motors has taken advantage of a centennial pick-up truck event in the US to unveil the Chevrolet Silverado 2019. The new generation full-size American pickup will be shown to the public at the Detroit Motor Show, but it does look good with its new look. Alan Batey, president of GM North America and global head of Chevrolet, says: “The passion of our owners for the Chevrolet pickup trucks is truly humble.”
He adds: “Many of our owners rely on their pickup trucks to work and play, customize their vehicles in surprising ways and pass on their loyalty to Chevy Trucks from generation to generation.” Batey does not say this just by marketing. More than 7,000 Chevrolet pickup customers participated in a survey to reveal what they wanted in the next generation of Silverado.
To provide such feedback used in the development of Chevrolet Silverado 2019, GM gathered some old customers at an event to celebrate the brand’s 100-year pickup truck, where the new model was flown by helicopter, to the surprise of the participants. After 85 million pickups produced, the automaker expects to have an equally good response with the new model. And what is it like?
The Chevrolet Silverado 2019 presents itself with a nervous but stylish front that may not please many outside the US. The LED headlights are small and very high, while frames just below resemble the modern optics, but have only the direction repeaters at the bottom. The entire grille is black as well as the Chevrolet logo on this Silverado 1500 LT Trailboss Z71 setting. The bumper has a glossy black finish, and the bottom has two fog lights attached to the hooks.
The body looks very robust with striking lines and huge mirrors, with black finish in this version. It catches an antenna fin just above the windshield, but on the left side of the vehicle. A crease that rises in the front doors extends to the end of the bucket, where LED flashlights with an allusive format to the front set stand out. The cover features a Chevrolet-shaped shoulder in low relief.
The bumper has built-in chrome exhaust as well as side steps. The look of the rear of the Chevrolet Silverado 2019 resembles that of a concept. The shiny black alloy wheels, mixed-use tires, and two-inch high suspension, the Z71 package, complete the look.
GM has not released any image of the interior, but it is known that the body is now made of high strength steel with high torsional rigidity and better quality materials. Well, the company could make Chevrolet Silverado 2019 a global product, especially with eyes aimed at China, where there is already interest in large pickup trucks.
