After giving birth, celebrities expect to return to red carpet form at the drop of a dime. Still, it doesn’t work that way, according to Katherine Heigl (and most non-celebrity moms out there). The mom-of-three wrote to herself on her blog Heavenly Days she was hoping to only gain 25-30 pounds like my mom during her pregnancies but found out it just wasn’t possible for me.

1. Foster A Healthy Relationship With Food
KAT candidly said on her blog that years of deprivation, counting all calories, cutting out major food groups entirely, and setting unreasonable weight goals. None of those things worked for me. They just fostered an unhealthy and resentful relationship with my body, an attitude that she doesn’t want to pass it on to her daughters.
2. Start Your Day With A Mantra
She wrote that her best weight loss advice is to start each morning by saying a positive mantra of your choice out loud about your body. She can imagine with Harm to none.

Low-calorie meals are a big part of losing weight for me. Kat doesn’t burn many calories a week because she is not in those high-impact cardio or weight training classes. So she has to be somewhat mindful of what and how much she is eating. Kat made sure she ate healthy, nutritious meals with calories from healthy ingredients like overnight oatmeal, smoothies, and soups. She sleeps a lot, at least eight hours a night. Yeah, she realizes that’s a little hard to believe with a 6-month-old and all, but it’s the truth.
