Review Of Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo 2017 Model

Review Of Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo 2017 Model

As you know – if you do not know, everything is new in the Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo with a wider, longer and lower platform, a masterpiece in terms of rigidity, especially compared to the previous model. That is, the Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo is bigger and, above all, is more able to offer effective behavior and also greater comfort. We sit closer to the ground – the car feels better in this position – and the center of gravity is also lower. And where previously there was a plebeian torsion shaft, now lives a complex and effective multi-axis independent shaft.

For this, it is necessary to put power to challenge the excellence of the platform. If the Type R is coming, before that the most we can do is take the 1.5-liter supercharged version with respectful 182 hp and see if the chassis fits this power or not.

In terms of style, the Honda Civic is a busy combination of lines and shapes, some of them without rhyme, particularly in the rear too marked by optical groups. And the front also does not rhyme with the back. Live the car there is that American taste that makes it look huge and very wide. You will never win a beauty pageant, but at least it’s different, better than the last one and I think it does not shock anyone.

As for the interior, opening the door opens at the same time the mouth of awe because here Honda has managed to do better and even if it were not difficult, the truth is that the cockpit of the new Honda Civic is a luxury! First, there are no inventions or inspirations in console games or spaceships.

Then the dashboard looks really good, the instruments are in the right places, and even the entertainment info system, Honda Connect, is not very confusing. Graphing is not a big deal, but it pays off with a high build quality, a Honda tradition that is already a few years old and offers interiors with a first water construction and materials that may even seem of lesser value but are to the test.

The driving position has improved not only because we are sitting lower 34 mm (it’s a lot!) But because the fuel tank disappeared under our tail! It slipped under the tail of the passengers in the backseat. With the new platform, there is more space in the rear seat and the feeling of claustrophobia disappears – and the boot is also bigger, now the Civic is close to the segment references to the living space and the luggage compartment. The descending roof shape does not detract from visibility, but the taller ones may bump their heads into the ceiling liner.

The car has a fantastic balance in almost all situations and excellent behavior that does not detract from comfort. The suspension impressively absorbs the road bumps and even at a strong pace, the Civic does not require special attention or effort to bend quickly and well. It changes easily in direction, always controlled and balanced with some sensitivity in the direction, something always welcomes in the days that run, and a precision that impresses. And with the Dynamic mode for the shock absorbers, the Civic has an excellent behavior that harms a little comfort.

Let’s then know what this Civic is worth with the 1.5 engine and the automatic CVT box. First I must confess that the first few kilometers did not sound right to me. The car looked like it had left half of the power in the workshop and I simply missed the 1.0 Turbo block immediately. But after realizing that the power and torque are up there, it’s all headed for a much more enjoyable experience. After all, feel the 182 CV perfectly and yes, the engine makes a difference compared to the Civic 1.0 Turbo.

Of course … it spends more and is not as easy to explore as the smaller engine, but it has the soul until Almeida and, a surprise of the surprises, I loved the car with the CVT box. Believe me, I hate this kind of box. But Honda did something and simply loved the car. Of course with the manual gearbox, it is more “lively” and the excitement is slightly higher, even because Honda knows about pruning. But it was a pleasant surprise that the two thousand euros difference, unfavorable to the CVT box, was damaged in two times. Already the difference for the Civic 1.0 Turbo is around five thousand euros.

Verdict

Without knowing the prices, I would say that I should go to race to buy the Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo CVT, but looking at the wallet, it is clear that 1.0 Turbo remains the best option, because it consumes less, it is cheaper and the performances are sufficient ( loses 20 km / h in speed and 0.2 seconds in the 0-100 km / h). And then, if you want the CVT box, there is also for this engine. So it’s answered: the Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo is better than the Turbo 1.0 and the CVT box is a nice surprise, but realistically, it’s the Civic 1.0 Turbo the elected.
